2017 Langmeil Winery ‘The Freedom 1843’ Shiraz

Tasting: Langmeil Winery is proud to be the custodian of The Freedom 1843 Shiraz, a vineyard believed to have been planted in 1843 by vigneron Christian Auricht. Having fled war and persecution in Prussia, Auricht sought refuge in the Barossa Valley, finding freedom in his new homeland. The original vines, which he planted, still thrive today, representing some of the oldest and most precious vines globally. This wine exhibits rich, sweet fruit harmoniously balanced with briary and sweet spices, complemented by velvety tannins. With its full-bodied and textural profile, it offers a remarkable complexity, with nuances of cedar and allspice lingering into the long, brambly fruit finish.
