150 Year Old Vines 1858 Field Blend 2018

Tasting: The 150 Year Old Vines 1858 Field Blend originates from one of the oldest field blends globally, featuring Grenache, Mourvedre, and Malbec vines planted in 1858. Situated in Springton within the Eden Valley, this small block is home to classified ‘Ancestor’ vines, cultivated as bush vines without irrigation on their original rootstock. Delivering a seamless array of floral and spicy nuances, accompanied by subtle hints of forest fruits, pepper, and ginger snap, this blend offers a sensory journey. On the palate, an exquisite interplay of dark berries and Mediterranean herbs unfolds, exhibiting impeccable balance between tannin texture and length. In optimal vintages, the block yields just over 1 ton of grapes, meticulously hand-picked into small baskets to ensure fruit integrity.
