About Us

Meet the crew at Midway Cellars.

Guy Strang: Manager

Guy was locked away for many years in the kitchens of Sydney and the Central Coast. Ten years ago he wanted a change of pace and used his palate skills in retailing wine. He has been at Midway Cellars for the past five years and brings a wealth of knowledge about food and wine. Guy is also quite personable and very approachable, and his ability to match food and wine has some of our customers ringing him from restaurants asking for his advice. Guy is the perfect person to talk to in regards to your parties or corporate functions. He is backed up by a young and enthusiastic group.

Steven Dinnell

Steven “Scuba” Dinnell joined the team as a hospitality student and has developed a real passion for wine. “I didn’t like wine till I came here”. After showing some real promise we sent him off to wine education classes. Steve can now back up for Guy when we give Guy a day off. Don’t be fooled by his baby face looks: this bloke knows more about wine now than his years let on. He is also very helpful in getting stuff off the top shelves.

David Binnie

David “the Ninja” Binnie joined as a part timer but has been sucked into the world of wine. He would be one of the best for your boutique beer. Why? Because he loves it, and is always keen to get into the samples. His love of sport always keeps the sporting nuts chatting and he can talk about everything from figure skating to football and everything in between.

Tom Hart

Tom “muscles” Hart was here when Guy first started. He was studying PE at university and helped Guy with his transition into the shop. He left us and went to work in England and trained private school boys to play football (Rugby), so if we start losing to the English he is to blame. His return from England saw him start a teaching career here, but he still works at Midway Cellars as a casual.

Rose Rocca

Rose “the mum” Rocca  is the licensee of Midway Cellars. She has been here since the shop began, over 30 years ago. Rose loves retail, having grown up in her father’s fruit shop in Glebe. You will always find her shooting around the shop with cloth in hand dusting and cleaning. She is the driving force behind our policy of customer care. And she is always keeping the boys looking tidy.

Ross Rocca

Ross “the boss” Rocca is as his name states, “The Boss”. He has been here at Midway Cellars the second longest. He is in charge of all the Administration and is the chief cheque writer. Without Ross on board Guy would need to invent the 28 hour day.

This is our team and a damm good one!!
